Summer 2021 Examinations

A huge thank you to our teachers delivering examination courses through this ongoing pandemic. They have worked tirelessly to ensure all our pupils achieve their qualifications for their post 16 transfer and our Post 16 Manager Mrs Clarke has secured the right post 16 transfer for September 2021.

Dear Parent/Carer(s)

The awarding of subject grades this summer will be very different for the second year running. Again, this is due to the impact of Covid 19.

I want to assure all parents that as a centre we are following government and exam board guidance. The way some examination grades are awarded this summer will be through teacher assessment. Our subject teachers will use a 'basket of evidence' to determine your child's final grade in a subject.

They will be using: coursework completed and in draft form, class tasks, mock examinations, internal examinations, photographs, witness statements. This process is called NEA Non exam assessment.

Our pupil's will be sitting the more traditional route with on demand exam papers for our Functional Skills Suite. Our practical BTEC examination subjects-Design and Technology, Food Technology and an Introduction to Sport will be internally verified by our moderator Mrs Brown. The Humanities examination units will be internally verified by our experienced subject teachers.

Our pupils studying for Entry Level 3 Science will have completed coursework, completed a variety of different practical experiments. They will have gained 70+ points in their end of topic assignment for the course.

Our pupils entered for GCSE will have evidence 'basket of evidence' submitted for teacher assessment.

If you have any concerns please contact the school office and leave a message for  Ms R Fernell, the school's Deputy Head to call you back to answer any concerns that you might have.
