  • Science Teacher

    Teacher of Science

    Permanent/ Full Time position.  

    MPS-UPS plus SEN

    We are looking for a dynamic, innovative and creative individual who is a good team player to teach science across Years 9 – 11. Pupils at Elms typically take exams at Entry level, with some pupils taking GCSE exams.

    The successful candidate will have a high level of emotional intelligence and resilience, a flexible approach to their work and an ability to embrace change. Previous experience working with children with special educational needs would be desirable but not essential.  The successful candidate will demonstrate an ability to engage our pupils in learning and to meet their needs in lessons. 

    Our children have social, emotional and mental health needs and a nurturing approach and high levels of empathy are essential.  Candidates will need to have excellent behaviour management skills and some knowledge of the issues around attachment difficulties.

  • HLTA - Trauma Informed Practitioner

    HLTA - Trauma Informed Practitioner

    (KR7, 33 hours per week, 39 weeks)

    FTE £23 378, plus £1342 SEN (Pro rata £18013 +£1342)

    We are looking for an experienced, highly skilled Trauma Informed Practitioner to join our Pupil Support Team and enhance our provision at Elms School.  Candidates will need to demonstrate a commitment to the school’s vision and ethos and either be training or have completed training as a Trauma Informed Practitioner. Initially the practitioner will be working with one of our Primary pupils. 

    All our pupils have significant difficulties with managing their emotions and behaviour and they require specialist help with their personal development.  The successful candidates will be expected to listen to pupils and support them emotionally so that they can engage in learning.  Previous experience of working with children or adults with challenging behaviours is essential.  You will need to be emotionally resilient with a good sense of humour and an understanding of SEMH needs.  The successful candidate will have experience of working with either children or adults with trauma.  Knowledge of Restorative Approaches and Team Teach is desirable. 

    The school places a high priority on professional and career development.  All staff receive a full induction and support programme throughout the year to achieve their performance management targets.

    Working 30hrs per week, term time only (39 weeks per year)

    There are opportunities to appoint Teaching Assistants in both the primary and secondary phases at the school.  The posts offer an opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced TA to join our dedicated and highly effective staff team.

    We have a new framework which enables teaching assistants to progress from KR3 to KR5 based on teaching assistant qualifications or equivalent. We will support you in your development on this learning journey if you require additional training to access the Senior Teaching Assistant range.

    The successful candidate will work supporting pupils with a range of behaviour and learning needs and will have a high level of emotional intelligence and resilience, a flexible approach to their work and an ability to embrace change.
